Trip of a Lifetime – Paris and the Loire Valley

September 2022 Nancy and Paul took an incredible trip to France.  What was it like?  Imagine all the adjectives describing a perfect vacation – beautiful, wild, exciting, exhilarating, restful, historical, breathtaking, and of course, being in France, always extremely delicious.

Our destination:  Paris and the Loire Valley.

Nancy had been to France four times in the past, first as a student in Grenoble for a year.  Paul had never been to France before, but promised this trip to Nancy just a few weeks after we met.  We were supposed to go in 2021, but COVID reared its ugly head and Nancy got scared.  Not even a trip to France was worth getting the two of us sick.

This time everything went according to plan, no delays with airplanes, no problems with French hotels, every one of our guided tours was terrific and the weather cooperated mostly – it was particularly great during our Loire Valley tour – brilliant sunshine, azure skies every day — not so great in Paris – you know how it goes . . .”when it drizzles; when it fizzles . . ..”

We spent six days in Paris, at the Hotel Prince Eugene. Visited museums, the Opera House, Nancy’s cousin Moshe and his family, the Eifel Tower, and had dinner on a boat on the Seine.

We took a bus to Monet’s house in Giverny, toured the gardens and the Monet home and had lunch.

We rented a Renault, left Paris and drive to the Château de la Bourdaisière, where they grow well over 100 varieties of tomato.
